Question:
Has anyone had conference call with their insurance?
My insurance denied me for the 2nd time. They just told me that tomorow at 9:30 they will have a conference call with me , 3 of their doctors, 2 nutritionist and the doctor in charge of appeals and grievances. Is this a trial without jury or what? Has this happened to anyone else with Health Net insurance? — Luisa H. (posted on March 11, 2002)

Gosh, it sounds like that ins co is anxious to hold onto a buck...but you
know, all those peoples' time together probably costs at least half as much
as the surgery! Anyway, no real advice, just go in armed with all your
comorbidities and research on how WLS can improve them, and good luck!

You might want to have someone with you when you do this. Just someone
else who will remember what was said and remind you of what you want to
say. Also for a little moral support.

I joined my insurance company panel by conference call for my third appeals
hearing on coverage for my abdominoplasty. There were about 20 people
present (reps from every department of the insurance company - none of whom
had a sense of humor, I might add). I read a statement I had prepared and
answered a few questions. My surgery was approved the next day. -Kate-

My conference call came in at 9:47a.m. It was intimidating but it had to be
done. All, they want now is the clinical sheets from my previous doctor who
is not one of their providers showing that within the past 5 years I have
been under a supervised diet for 12 months. I went to my doctors office for
the request and my doctor is sick and not working until spring time,
however his secretary will fax this information to my insurance company. My
doctor had sent them a letter stating my 12 month supervised diet but that
is not enough, they want the clinical sheets. Talking about an insurance
company not wanting to pay!! Thank you for all the replies, they were very
helpful.
