My surgery is 2/25 and my insurance denied me the benefit of it?

I am scheduled for surgey on the 25th of February, today the 19th they denied me the benefit of living. Their denial department does not speak to patients directly, only to doctors. I wish my husbands company had kept US. Healthcare, I would not be dealing with heartless and ignorant people. I can't even climb stairs to my bedroom without been out of breath, I am literally dying and they are denying my RIGHT TO LIVE.

I don't want to sound harsh, but insurance companies DO NOT OWE US ANYTHING. I understand that you are pissed, but you can always appeal this decision, and you may win. But stamping your foot and putting it in such histrionic terms is not the best way to handle it. And yes, this is bitchier than my usual sound advice, so I am signing it anonymously...

If you feel that strongly appeal. If that doesn't work hire a lawyer and if that doesn't work take out a loan or second mortgage. I wish you all the luck in the world

Here's my 'broken record' on insurance issues. Your insurance must put in writing to you why you were denied. If they refuse to give it to you directly, call your state's Insurance Division. Does the policy have an exclusion? If not, make sure that all the paperwork that was supplied to them was accurate. Make sure that the codes the doctor's office supplied were the right ones. In your letter of appeal, keep it short, answer just the issues they denied you for. Do not write a long letter detailing all the non-medical problems you have. I'm talking about fitting into chairs, being unable to buy nice clothes etc. You should focus on your medical problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, back pain, sleep apnea, etc. Good luck.

dear anom, yes, you are right that our insurence company doesnt owe us anything, but may I add that mine is paid 880 dollars a month, to care for my family. (280 a month from me and 500 from my employer) Most monthes, they dont pay out anything, not a dime, maybe a chropractor here, a trip the ER there, etc. Otherwise, nothing. But, say that for ten monthes, nothing happnes, thats 8,880 dollars that I paid them for nothng. Thats my risk. The fact that I need help, to be the best person that I can be, and need a surgery to facilatate that, thats thier risk.If insurence companies didnt MAKE money, they would be out of business, and, if they would not have realized already that they save money in the long run approving these surgerys, they wouldnt keep approving them, they arent dumb! Plus, if they were losing money on us, they couldnt afford the ten story glass buildings that they all seem to own. Ps, on a personal note, lets be a little kinder here, this surgery means alot to everyone. Maybe even yourself(you didnt post wether or not you had the surgery or not, and if you were a self pay, or not)But if you did have surgery, think back to the excitement of a new chance at living, and how scary and frustrating that would have been if you had been denied. Maybe the post was a tad dramatic, but who isnt at times, exspecially when we are hurt. Give me a glass of wine, and I become Shakspere, Fred Sandford, and Oprah all in one.God bless you all, good luck to us all, and keep your fingers crossed for me this week, as I find out if Im approved or not.xoxoxoxxoxooxoxox

Anon--Do you even know what histrionic means? The poster only posted a very short sentence and you attacked her. Maybe you need to have your first or last cup of coffee for the day before you post to the board. I really wish that people could not post anon. It is very cowardly to do so simply to attack another person. If you want to post something personal about yourself that is one thing, but what you have done in your post is really just out right rude and unkind. Get A Life Anon--May God Bless and Keep Us All.
