Question:
Has anyone experienced excessive vaginal dryness since surgery?
I am 2 weeks post op and have been experiencing vaginal dryness. I am also very itchy. I am drinking enough water every day. This is SO ANNOYING. — [Anonymous] (posted on November 25, 2001)

I am 5 wks post op and having the same problem. I also experience a kind
of soreness. I even used Monistat for three days and it didn't really
change the problem. I believe we are neutered after surgery for a few
months...lol.I have no libido and this is probably part of the reason for
the dryness. Use lubrication when you resume sexual relations to avoid
injuring the vaginal wall. It will come back eventually according to my
doctor.
We have a lot of healing to do and I think our bodies are concentrating all
it's efforts towards that goal. Give yourself some time.

I see that you are only about 2 weeks post op. Did they give you
antibiotics during your your hospital stay? Sometimesw this can give you a
yeast infection, causing dryness and itchiness. Most times there is a white
thick clumpy discharge with it ,but it can occur without it.I would suggest
you ask your surgeon if you were given antibiotics and also explain your
problem.Good luck for a speedy recovery.<3

I'm three years post rny and I had this problem for the first
year after my surgery....that was also the year in which I lost
all my weight. I attributed it, at the time, to perimenopause and
used lubricants. But, one year....and 110lbs. later....the vaginal
dryness was no longer a problem. Neithe my gynecologist nor my
surgeon saw a connection. But, I do think that it was my body's
reaction to all the changes.
