Question:
Help! I am 4 weeks post op and throwing up every morning.
Nothing but sinus drainage, but it is hard way to start the day, and I am afraid of hurting the ring or my new stomach if I keep throwing up everyday. The dr. gave me some Reglan to take before I eat, but it's not helping in the morning. Is there anything else that will help the drainage? Thanks, Robin — robinkc (posted on August 31, 2001)

How about tring to reduce the sinus drainage instead of the nausea?
Allergy medicine, humidifiers, air filters... i just got over a hefty cold
and thins was a problem too, except I don;t throw up, just feel queasy.

I have a hard time in the morning with vomiting. I fine that I have to be
up afew hours]
before food settles for me. It is trial and error for me. Breakfast
"foods" don't
work well for me in the A.M. eggs are more of an evening meal
now. I am able to get my protien in with a beverage about 1 hr
after I get to work. I hope that you feel better- that vomiting thing
takes a lot out of a person- take care...

You know, that four week mark is such a toughy. I had the same problem at
4 weeks. I got used to starting each day with some vomitting. I suggest
you talk to your PCP about what to do for the sinus drainage. There are
lots of decongestants that can help. Be careful with these because they
can also dehydrate you. Be sure to explain to your PCP what your food and
water intake are and why. I found this was worse if I started in with cold
water in the morning. Better to do some warm tea and all of it very
slowly. It gets better, it really does.

I too was sick at 4 wks post-op, the reglan didn't help me either. I
switched to taking my Flintstone chewables at night-time instead of morning
because of the iron in them. I eat a cracker as soon as my feet hit the
floor in the mornings. It helps. After about 2 weeks the nausea stopped. I
sleep on 2 pillows at nite to help with my sinus problems.
I hope this helps you. God Bless,
Marilyn
