Question:
Does the size of your belly shrink slower than the rest of your body?

I started out at 347 and in 4 1/2 months have lost 92 lbs. I am doing everything that I am supposed to do (water, protein and excercise) but I don't seem to be losing my big belly. Can anyone tell me if this does shrink but if it happens more slowly than the rest? I am so frustrated. Please feel free to answer me by private email too. [email protected]    — Beth M. I started at about the same weight (350) and my stomach has been the slowest shrinking part of my body. It is very frustrating but all that will end with my tummy tuck :). I am 10 months post op and I have lost 153 lbs so far. I still have 47 more until goal but I will be getting my TT before then. If you carry most of your weight in your stomach then it will be the last to go but it will go...

I am not quite as far along as you are, but I can tell you what I've noticed and learned. Like the last poster mentioned, if you have a big tummy it's usually the last to go, but it will go. I've lost 60 pounds now. And my tummy looks the same. But it's amazing how slimmed down my face/neck are. And I can totally tell a difference in my back/butt. But still....belly's the same. What my doctor told me is that you generally loose from the top down. Just keep up the good work...and try to do what you can to tighten up the tummy. I do the ab slide. Good luck.

I had my OpenVBG 8 weeks ago and have lost 60 lbs.....I still look 8 months pregnant. But I've dropped 3 full sizes in my clothes and I feel and look so much better already (started out at 340 lbs) - I know the stomach will start going before long - and of course, after four babies, and being 180 lbs overweight for 10 years, I know that surgery is in the future....

I am in the same boat as the rest of the posters. It has been a year since my open RNY and I have lost 110 pounds with 35 to go. My biggest frustration is my lower stomach area. I have lost 21 1/2 inches off my waist and only 14 from the lower area. I love being able to buy clothes right off the rack, but find it frusterating that I will get something that I think is going to fit and then try it on and have it be too tight in the lower ab area. Of course I am not complaining......I have gone from a tight 26/28 (or 30/32 when they were available) to either a Medium or Large top and a 16 bottom. I just laid away some size 14 skirts that I will get out in 2 months and they better fit past that tummy by then. I could wear them now if it wasn't for that area!

I'm an apple, so I thought that thing would never catch up with me. Never did. I lopped it off. But some have flatter tummies and they have HIPS or THIGHS, so we're all different. One of my freinds was disproportionaly large on the bottom. I really fretted for her, as she lost 100#, 150#, still huge bottom, size 10 tops. The, between one support group and another: her butt fell off! WHOA! GONE! Amazing! I'm not sure who was more suprised, her or the people who love her! We were all thrilled for her!
