Has anyone used diet aid after WLS? I am 6 Mos post op and the scales goes 202 - 210.

i don't mean to sound harsh, but only you know what you are eating, a lot of the foods that tempted us before the surgery, will continue to do so afterwards we CANNOT go back to eating hi-fat foods, excessive sweets, etc, after this surgery, you also have to be aware of head-hunger verses real hunger, i've also had to stop myself a few times, the desire to eat after we are satiated is more habit than anything else, please, please REMEMBER that the same foods that caused us to put on all of this weight BEFORE surgery, will also cause us to regain the weight after surgery, i make it a point to keep my fridge free of foods that i was obsessive about prior to the surgery, and i've sworn off fast foods, this surgery is ONLY a tool for use to use to lose and keep the weight off, go back to what you were doing when you were losing the weight at a staedy pace, and the weight will come back off, we must be ever viligant about the food and fat taking control of our lives again ... wishing you well

I see no problem taking a diet aid post-op. If we were able to just stop eating the wrong things before surgery, we never would have needed the surgery in the first place. Learning to control/learn new eating habits is still very difficult, even after the surgery. So what's wrong with a little extra help? Isn't that what the surgery was all about? A little extra help? I say as long as what ever you use does not cause life-threatening side effects, and you can tolerate it with your small pouch, try it!

Does your surgeon offer you sessions with a nutritionist. I think the earlier poster made a great point, it's all to easy to fall back into bad habits. While I'm preop, I know with other *diets* I'd lose and gain and lose and gain. Perhaps you could take her or him a log of what you eat and they could pinpoint problem areas. And I know you will cringe at this, but how about exercise and water, are you getting enough of both? Here is the web address of an excellent article about how to eat to keep the weight loss going and keep the weight off, : http://www.oregoncenter.com/article1.html it's a little technical but full of good info. Best of luck,
