Question:
1 Wk Post-Op; how much should I be eating?
My surgery was eight days ago. For the first day or two on liquids, I had two ozs 3X per day. I'm now on "Full Liquids"--I had been having 2-3 ozs, 3X per day...today, I had 4 ozs at a meal and still feel hungry. How many ozs should I be eating at each meal? I know my surgeon only wants me eating three times per day, 1-1/2 hours for each meal, and possibly a snack, at most, but I'm confused as to amounts of food. Thanks! — CaseyinLA (posted on July 7, 2001)

If you started out with a 1 oz pouch, perhaps you'd be more comfy doing 2
oz of food every 2-3 hours (6 meals) vs 3 large ones? Since your other
post felt like you over ate and this one leaves you hungry, it is possible
that the amount you can get in is not enough to satisfy you for 4-5 hours.
Many of us do the tiny frequent meals (not grazing) and it's the same
volume of food, but spaced out so as to hold the blood sugar steady, not
overfill the pouch, but allow enough sense of fullness. Each doc is a
little different, because we are on clear liquids only for 4 weeks, then
the gradual steps up through puree & soft. BUT we start protein
supplement on Day 5 or 7 and so don't get the weaky-wobbles.
