I also had a baby in 12-99. I had a VBG in 1996. Lost about 100 lbs. as
well. I too seemed to be able to suddenly eat anything during pregnancy. I
gained 45 lbs. Lost 20 right away. Can't get rid of the other 35 no matter
how much I exercise. My stomach has definitely strectehd. I called the
office that did the VBG and asked about it. They said they found that 40%
of women who got pregnant after a VBG had a rupture of the staple lines.
They think it is because of the pressure on the stomach from the fetus. I
certianly didn't change my eating habits, so it must be. I just had a
barium/upper GI series, and am waiting for results. but I am willing to bet
the surgery is undone. And I don't know what can be doen about it. Also, my
hair is falling out like mad. My son is 15 months old, and my hair has not
stopped falling out since he was 4 months old. I keep wondering if it has
anything to do with the surgery becoming undone during pregnancy and new
scar tissue prohibiting vitamin absorption or something. I also am looking
for answers. If you find any, please post them.
