Question:
Is there anyone out there ?
I do not want to sound like a mooch but let me get to the point....ever since I have been married...7 yrs now, we have not had insurance. Being as such, none of us go to the doc unless we are dying. =-) (my kids go of course...I have an old retired Internist who helps us there for no charge who still is practicing...but I have not had any Dr. referred or supervied diets in my life. I have done weight watchers 3 times but did it off of friends programs...did over the counter pills...not ate...tried getting bulimia or anorexia...much to my chargrin, never works and I gain...**lol** Seriously, though, can someone give me some pointers here or should I fork out some moolah and get on som Dr. referred diet? I do not have insurance now but am looking into it.....keep getting turned down cuz self employed hubby and I am too fat. thank you in advance.... Mo — monileigh (posted on April 22, 2000)

I didn't have any doctor-supervised diets either. I wrote down a list of
all the diets I had tried, and how much I lost (and regained) on each one,
as best as I could remember. My list was good enough for the surgeon.
After all, most bariatric surgeons know and accept that diets don't work.
Insurance companies are another thing of course. Many insurance companies
want proof of a doctor-supervised diet. Luckily, mine (CIGNA PPO) didn't
ask for that. I think they went only by my BMI to approve me. Good Luck
to you!
