Question:
How can I stay healthy before my surgery date?
I just went to my PCP today and found out I have a Urinary Track Infection!! He said it's good this happened early (surgery date May 3rd)because they can get me on some antibiotics now and I will be fine for surgery. But please understand I have NEVER had an UTI prior to this in my whole life! So now I'm afraid I am going to catch everything coming down the pike, so to speak! I have to school age children so God only knows what they are bringing home! I just thought if I could find something I could do for the next 4 weeks to keep myself some what healthy I will be better off. I hope I'm not sounding histerical or anything I'm just so afraid with the weather changing and all that I'm going to get something, they will have to reschedule the surgery. Yhen I'm going to have to jump back 3 steps and start over. Please be understanding..... — jennmak72 (posted on April 4, 2000)

Jennifer ~ I`ve been through surgery before and these same worries, I`ve
had doc`s tell me to take extra vit.c to fight stuff off and helps in
healing and bleeding and also to take some echinaisa(spelling)to boost your
immune system. hope this helps.

Jennifer - I know how you feel! I am scheduled for April 26 and don't want
ANYTHING to change my date. However, prior to taking any herbs, check with
your surgeon. Some cause ill-effects (and fatal!) with anesthesia. Good
luck!

Try taking vitamins everyday. It will help... When the kids get home
from school make them wash their hands. That is where most of the germs
are going to be. I did it and I did not get sick before surgery. Good
luck on surgery day!!!!

I know exactly what you mean!! This past weekend I felt miserable, sore
throat and plugged ears. By Sunday I just couldn't take it (really Sat.
night), and went to the immediate care center. I found out I had TWO
infections, a double ear infections (do adults get these???) and a throat
infection!! So he put me on antibiotics. I have surgery scheduled on
April20th so I am glad I caught it and am getting treated!! I think with
the stress of impending surgery and anxiety of the wait, our bodies just
can't take it all and something just gives. I hope you are feeling better
and I know I am. That is my 2 cents. Thanks Tammy
