Question:
How do I prove my sincere attempts to lose weight to the Doctor?
I have a screening packet to complete for the doctor before I can get a consultation with him. I'm not sure I can prove my weight lost history. I am diabetic, and have participated in Jenny Craig, WW and hypnosis. How does one prove the weight they have lost and gained back, I was sincere even if I was not successful. Can anyone help me address this? When I spoke to my regular MD about have WLS she said she would rather I exercise harder and longer. Thank you Christine — Christine S. (posted on December 13, 1999)

I worried about that too. All I did was type up a two page estimate of the
diets I had tried, approximately when that was, how much I had lost and
guessed at the entire thing. They accepted it without question. I mean
how could they possibly verify it?

I just made a list of all the diets that I have tried, WW Diet Workshop Oa
and the years I was in them.

Christine,
Just document your story.. Write down what you have gone through since you
first became overweight. I did not have to show proof of dieting like
receipts... empty protein powder packets... and such. Hopefully they will
read your story and just know that your sincere.
Remember that you need a general practitioner that is supportive. Do they
understand what you have been through? I doubt it.
Good luck and if there is anything else you would like to talk about, feel
