Please compare old staple surgery to today's gastric bypass.

Many people ask how my gastric bypass surgery compares to the "staple surgeries" of 10 and 15 years ago. Many of those surgeries were not successful and I feel I have to defend gastric bypass. Thanks!    — [Anonymous] (posted on November 29, 1999)

Just like everything else, bariatric surgery procedures have improved tremendously. At the ASBS yearly convention the attending surgeons present complications and the answers they have discovered to the problems improving bariatric patients quality of life.
