Question:
looking to have Dr. Champion but don't understand the procedure of his office.

in short, send 50 bucks with paperwork.. but ins says will pay for with second opinion. when told to Dr. Champion's office she said have to have surgery scheduled first before second opinion. don't understand. email me at [email protected] please for more info. really confused. and don't want to bother them anymore for fear I would get denied.    — [Anonymous] (posted on August 17, 1999)

Yes, I would definitely get a second opinion before scheduling surgery. Sometimes Dr's office personnel can be so insensitive to us! List any & all concerns/questions you need to ask the 2nd opinion dr./Ask for a copy of the 2nd opinion Dr. sends to the ins. co./Remember the more info/ammunition you have the better informed you'll be. Also try researching this surgery at the library. I would also notify your state medical board for info about any dr.s who do obesity type surgeries..ie sucesses or complaints.
