Question:
Where to purchase 1 oz containers?
I read that after WLS we can only eat portions of about 1 oz. I know others have used 1 oz medicine containers but preferably I would like to have containers with lids. Does anyone know where I can purchase these? Or does anyone have ideas about how to store such small portions of food? Cathy — Catherine B. (posted on June 20, 2005)

Cathy,
I got several containers with lids from Cracker Barrel Restaurant. They
use them for side orders of cheese, etc. I just told the waitress what I
had just done (my WLS) and what I wanted them for, and she brought me a
whole paper bag full. They are the perfect 2 oz. size portion. Try it, or
check with any local restuarant for similar ones.

Hi Cathy,
Walmart or K-mart any place that sells rubbermaid products have a small
container .I believe they come 4 to the pack for less than 3.00.I believe
they may be 2oz.size. You could ask a friend if you could have their
babyfood jars they work good also. Just a thought. Hope you find what you
need. Patricia Stephenson

You can buy the throw away plastic shot glasses, they are about 1oz maybe
slightly over. I used these when I was just newly out of the hospital, plus
the hospital sent me home with a handful of the plastic medicine cups.
Also the Midgets from Tupperware are real good to use, they have lids. Also
when you are further out you can use the 4 oz Glad throw away containers.

I don't know if you have a restaurant wholesale store around you. My
husband gets solo cup with lids that come in a variety of sizes: 1oz, 2oz,
3oz etc. They are fairly inexpensive so you don't have to worry about
washing them. If you don't have one around you, you can email me and I can
give you the name and phone number of the place by me.

So good to see someone being meticulous at the begining of a post op period
in measuring their food. I used to store my cooked pureed veg and fruit and
other types of food which lent itself to this in Ice cube containers, after
they were completly frozen I put them in a large plastic resealable bags. (
separating the various types of foodstuffs of course. same with gravy I
labelled all the bags as well as dated them and they were a great standby
after I came home from hospiutal after my surgery. With your attention to
detail I have no doubt you will find away that suites you. Good luck for
the future.

My sister is a manager at a resturaunt and she suggests asking your
favorite resturaunt if you could buy some of theirs. (Explain why you wan
them, most resturants carry 1, 2, or 3 oz containers!) Also, I buy 2 and 4
oz containers from ziplock (the toss away kind made for condiments). HTH!

I use the Glad 4 oz cups and put it on the scale so I don't exceed the
quantity I want. I am usually very faithful to scale...

I am scheduled for my surgery on July 27th, and I have found some nice
containers at the our local Dollar store. They hold 3 oz. and they come in
pretty colors. There are 4 with covers for $1.00. I hope this is of some
help to you. Rita

Talk to your surgeon about the size of YOUR pouch. Don't rely on what you
read about the size of everyone elses. Mine was originally 4 ounces, find
out what your surgeon does. Other than that, you can buy a measuring cup
with ounces and transfer that to small plastic containers. The container
itself doesn't have to be exactly X number of ounces.

You can get them at Cash & Carry or other restaurant/retail stores.
Best of luck!
