I had to pay a fee at the surgeons office that no inscurance will pay (all
patients had to pay out of pocket) and that was 250$ and then as far as
ACTUAL surgery I had to pay 300$ for the remainder of what Medicare didn't
pay surgeon Which was the standered 80% Med. 20% Me. The Hospital had
Medicare where whatever Medicare paid that is all they asked for. I can't
remember what that is called. Best Wishes

The key is to find a surgeon and hospital that takes Medicare ASSIGNMENT.
This means that all you pay are your medicare deductibles. The hospital
deductible is a little over 500. and the surgeon deductible is around 400.
They cannot charge you more than this and will usually take payments. My b
est friend only had medicare and it is the same all over. But if you only
ask if they take medicare, you will pay 20% of the total bill which can
really add up. Many docs take medicare but people forget to ask if they
take medicare Assignment. tHAT IS WHAT YOU SHOULD ASK. gOOD LUCK.

Jane,
I am on Social Security Disability. After I had my surgery, and Medicare
had paid, I applied for Medicaid for the period of time that included my
surgery and hostpital stay. Between the Medicare and Medicaid, I didn't
have to pay anything.

Jane, I have medicare and medicaid and the only out of pocket expenses I
had was my copay at the drs office of $1.00.
This is a very reasonable rate for this kind of surgery.
