Question:
Has anyone experienced extreme vaginal itching and rashes under arms, legs a couple
of weeks after surgery? Could it be from the sudden onslaught of sweetners in the diet? — Kathy K. (posted on April 1, 2004)

Kathy - YES! No rashes, but the itching started a few weeks after surgery.
It's only around ovulating time, then again right before I start, but it's
EXTREME (and there's a lot of dryness). I think it's from the hormones
from the sudden weight loss?
A little external application of Monistat seems to take care of it!
Good luck!

It sounds like a yeast infection -- I'd check with the Dr. You can get
them in other than the vaginal area. Don't ever put powder on them!

I concur with Jane, my bet's on fungal/yeast. I see this with my patients
especially after antibiotic therapy, even if only prophylactic(peri/post
op). Call your MD.

I am 5 weeks out and yup, this is happening! I had a yeast infection
postop already because I was on 7 days of IV antibiotics after I got home.
I already did a round of Diflucan and Monistat...went away, and now 2 weeks
later its BACK. UGHHH, not as bad as before, but yup, the itching is bad
in all the areas you mentioned! I thought it was just me.....

I am 17 months post op and I remember itching and rashes everywhere. On my
chest, under my arms, outer and inner thighs and near the pubic area. I
never knew why. Someone mention that it was perhaps a reaction to
anesthesia. After about a few weeks it went away.
