Question:
Has this happened to anyone else?

I had the worst experience with an endoscopy. Everyone told me it was nothing and they didn't remember anything. Well, I went unworried and I have to tell you that it was bad. I remember having to swallow the tube. It was awful. That was 3 years ago and I have to go for another one. I am scared to death that the same thing will happen. Is there anybody that had more than one and had totally diffrent experiences? Please let me know. I have to go in 3 days. Thank- You    — mae R. (posted on February 27, 2004)

Sounds to me like they did not give you enough medicine. I would let them know about your experience, maybe they will increase the dose this time, I dont remember anything about mine. Good Luck

It was possibly a different drug used. For instance Versed is commonly used but patients tend to remember the procedure. Ask your Dr what he/she uses and discuss what happened with you before. My GI Doc used Diprovan and I didn't remember a thing and unlike the sedatives it wears off as soon as they quit giving it. My mom has a colonoscopy and they gave her versed. They also had to give her valium because she became disoriented and combative during the procedure. She says she remembers kicking the Dr. because it hurt so bad. So just ask what they plan to use and ask how it works.
