Question:
Is time released protein ok?
I've been using Pro Blend 55 protein powder and it's time released. I was wondering if maybe I haven't been receiving the full benefits of the protein because of it being time released. I know that we can't take time release medications. I'm also wondering if it may be hindering my weight loss. I'm just over 5 months out and have lost 79 pounds. I started out at 340. Can anybody help me out? — Morna B. (posted on February 7, 2004)

Yes, it is a very good product. Just use one scoop at a time, though, as
any more is wasted. The timed release in it is not dependent on US to
"release" the nutrients. It is because it is several different
protein sources and each moves along at its own pace. Very different than
meds which require stomachs & contents to break the different
"timed" parts down in sequence. Still sitck with appx 30g no
closer than 2 hours, ok?

I think the time release it fine, your doing good on your weight. I'm a
little over 6mts post op started at weight 310 now at 215 as of today. My
surgery was 7/31/03.I do Isopure. I like it better.I use it with Lactaid
Lactose free, soy protein, fat free, milk.I eat a high protein diet and
Veggies with very very low carbs. I do eat sugar free sweets, and WOW
potatoe chips once in a while. Sometimes I think I'm not doing good, but we
cant compare are bodys to no one else's we all lose in different time
frames. Just make sure you exercise daily (walk) and take in that protein,
and drink lots of water...God Bless You, Connie Lee

Thanks Connie, I appreciate that. It is true that I shouldn't compare
myself but I think that on some level we all have a tendency to. I'll try
to keep it in check.
