Question:
Has anyone noticed that your clothing sizes change faster as you get smaller?
I've noticed that it seems like the clothing sizes I wear are changing faster now than when I was only a couple of months out. I'm losing a bit slower now so it's weird to me that I would. I started out at 30/32 and now at 5 months out I'm a size 20. I just bought some size 22 jeans about 3 weeks ago and they are getting baggy on me. I swear I could fit into an 18 if I tried. My clothing sizes didn't change this fast before, not that I'm complaining :D I was just curious on other's experiences. — Morna B. (posted on January 30, 2004)

Yes I have noticed this too! My sizes seemed to go down slowly in the
beginning after surgery which is weird because I was losing weight at a
much faster rate then. I have found lately that when I buy a new pair of
jeans it is only a matter of a week or two before they get baggy on me!

Yes I agree, I started at a size 22 and I am 9 months out and I am a size 3
130 lbs (a little below goal, but happy). I could probably wear a 1, I
have size 5s that I bought just 3-4 weeks ago and I have to wear a belt.
It seems like 5-10 lbs can make a big difference. Congratulations on your
loss and it will keep falling off. Just wait until you get into single
digit sizes, it is so great.

if you think about it, when I weighded 260, 10% of my body weight was 26 #
, at 130 10% of my body wieght is 13# . so , each pund lost at a lower
weight is a larger proportion of your body size. OK , I am poor at
explaining math, but I can see it clearly in my own head. Hope I am not too
confusing.

Thanks, I'm glad to know that I'm not crazy!!! It's just weird to me. I
guess it makes since though...

YES!!! I was soo mad, I had lost quite a bit of weight a few months after
surgery but I was still wearing the same freaking size! It was pretty
aggravating. Then one day it seemed like I changed sizes every other week.
Seriously, I couldn't even buy clothes fast enough and ended up returning
things I never had the chance to wear. That said, just keep the tags on
things until you actually walk out of the house in them! I think I heard
before that for every 10 pounds you lose, it's another size smaller. But
I'm not really sure where that begins because plus size clothes are made
differently and that rule doesn't seem to apply.

Yes, absolutely. And the smaller you get, the fewer pounds it takes to go
down a size. I'm usually a 4/6, but right now all that is too big since I
lost about 5 pounds with a stomach bug. hugs, Ann rny9/10/99 260/121

It does seem weird, doesn't it? I guess it's because once you lose a lot
of weight it takes less of a loss after that to make a difference. My pant
sizes seem to be shrinking weekly! I was wearing 22/24's before my surgery
last May. Now I wear small tops and 7/8 pants but some pants I bought just
a couple of weeks ago are already getting loose. I will probably be down
another size by the end of February. I'm not complaining either, but I'd
sure like to know when I can buy stuff and be able to wear it for awhile -
especially since I've been going crazy buying new stuff! ;)

My clothing size's went haywire too!
I decided that buying my pants and tops at
the Salvation Army was a better option than
spending a ton of money on clothes I wouldn't
be wearing for more than a month. I can dress in
designer jeans, sweaters and shirts year round!
For my whole winter wardrobe [13 sweaters, 7 pairs of pants and a BRAND NEW
winter coat] I spent $45. The majority of my clothes are Gap, Mudd, Lei,
Old Navy and Fashion Bug!
I am a happy camper, and my husband doesn't mind me splurging on clothes
anymore!

Thanks Lisa, that's encouraging to hear. I sometimes think that I'm not
doing so well. Then again, I've never been able to lose this much weight
on my own and in such a short period of time. Thanks!! Hugs!

My clothing sizes changed much faster the more I lost. I can even plateau
out for a few weeks and still drop a couple of sizes, it's the weirdest
thing. I started out in a size 26 (some probably bigger) and didn't notice
a big change until about the 60 pound mark. Now I'm at 163 and wearing
between a 4 and 8 in jeans, depending on who makes them. I'm 13 lbs away
from goal weight, but 2 sizes below goal size. Go figure... I'm NOT
complaining. God bless you.
