How far out are you? Do you work out? How many days a week of cardio do
you do? Do you work out with weights? How many days a week of weights do
you do? How much water do you drink in a day?
I guess I'm trying to say there is no answer. It depends on your activity
level.

I see that you are only 8 months post-op and almost at goal already. Wow,
your doing something right! As for how many calories per day, by 1 year
post-op, its around 1000-1200 a day and at maintenance, its any amount that
stabilizes your weight, and for some that could be 1500-1700 or more.
Everyone is different. As for protein, our bodies can only absorb around
30 grams at a time so no sense in overeating or drinking protein at one
time. Most docs recommend we get in at least 60 grams of protein a day
post-op but many others have more than that, like 75-100 day. Depending
on the protein, like the animal proteins, it can be hard on your liver, so
I wouldn't overdo it. If you get regular lab work, your doc should be able
to check your liver/protein intake and adjust if necessary.

Most of us who use protein drinks regularly do not count the protein in the
protein mix (whey) as long as the "mixer" is also calorie free.
Water, Crystal Light--like that. If you add milk or real juice or fruit, of
course you would count those calories and sugars. I'm 9.5 yrs postie, never
counted ANY calories, but counted every protein supplement g and every
sugar g. Many successful proximals do the same. You didn't say which
surgery you had, so I cannot hazard a guess as to how much protein is
enough (around 90g in supplement for a proximal, but more like 180g for a
distal like me) and how much might be too much. For most bypass types,
there is no such thing as too much protein.
