Question:
Have anyone have wls with decreased enjection fraction

I wish I could remember my ejection fraction numbers exactly but they were
definitely low. I'm now 9 months post-op and doing fabulously with no
complications. From 260 to 150 in 7 months and just 17 days ago had a
lower body lift. My guess is the heart is doing so much better now without
the 100 lbs.

Ejection fraction is a measure of how effectively the heart pumps blood out
of its chambers. People with congestive heart failure have a lower ejection
fraction than healthy people do.
Anyway, to answer the question, yes, I've heard of people getting WLS with
a lower EF, although it does make surgery more risky. You'll probably want
to talk to your cardiologist and surgeon about the risks involved with your
specific case. Perhaps the lap-band would be an option for you to consider
since it has less surgical risks in general; check with your doctors. Good
luck to you!

I live in Pflugerville, Texas and had my RYN with Dr. Pilcher with the
Surgical Consultant Group in San Antonio. It was worth the drive. I think
he is the best. He is personable, skilled, and knowledgeable. The thing I
like the best is his care for you after the surgery. He gives you the best
pre-op and post-op. Good luck and God bless.

I had lap rny on oct 1 03. My ejection fraction was 25%. My cardiologist
was against me having surgery. He was afraid I would die on the operating
table. My surgeon felt confident enough to operate. Everyting went fine.
I have lost 70 pounds, feel much better and can exercise daily now. Losing
the weight is making it easier on my heart. I may need a heart transplant
down the road and a 200 pound me has a better chance than a 300 pound me.
Your surgery will be very risky and you could die, but the benefits of
surgery are fantastic. Do your research, find a good surgeon and go full
steam ahead.

I have Congestive Heart Failure, and my Cardiopulmonary doc thinks I will
do fine with my wls and highly recommends it, he has many wls patients and
say they have all done great, their hearts are much better afterward and
they have healthier lives.
My sugery is February 17th and I am looking forward to it!
The Lord brought me this far and He will take me the reast of the way!
