Question:
IS IT ALRIGHT TO DRINK WATER WITH LEMON IN IT?
I am having a real problem trying to get all my water in so I have started squeezing piece of lemon in the water and my question is does anyone know if this would be still considered part of my water intake. Also, could flavored water be also considered part of water intake? I thought as long as you had suger-free no-calorie drinks it would be okay, to keep you hydrated, but I would really appreciate input and information. Thanks. — Tanya F. (posted on January 9, 2004)

Yes, water with lemon in it is okay and does not effect the benefits of the
water, I do that all the time.I also use other things to count towards my
water intake are Crystal Light, Sugar Free Kool-Aid, and de-caffeinated
tea. I also drink Propel or Fruit2-O which is a flavored water that is
non-carbonated and caffeine free and has only 5 calories, it also counts
towards the water intake. The things you want to avoid are carbonation, bad
for the pouch, and caffeine because it acts as a diuretic. This means it
inhibits your bodies absorption potential, thus making you have to urinate
more frequently, and defeating the purpose of your fluid intake you have
made for the day. Hope that helps.

I have drank lemon and splenda or equal in my water since day one and love
it.. I can't deal with plain water, it's yucky tasting and makes my tummy
hurt. I recently discovered I can also make a kind of 'punch' with frozen
grape juice concentrate.. I mix 3 tablespoons with about 16 oz of water and
splenda to taste.. it is very good.. (I am drinking it now, this time I am
using the white grape/raspberry juice concentrate). There are several
different frozen juices I wanna try this with.. I am nearly 3 months post
op now and have been drinking lemon water all this time and have gotten a
little tired of it. I drink fruit 2o also but it's kinda strong and I
can't stand crystal lite. So this has been a really good option for me.
Try it and I think you will like it! The juice concentrate does have sugar
grams in it so you have to make it pretty diluted but it still gives the
water a very nice flavor. Good luck! Pam in GA

HI TAYNA, LEMON IS FINE TO USE, ACTUALLY IF YOU LIKE THE LEMON YOU CAN
CUT UP A HAVE A LEMON AND FILL A PITCHER OF WATER AND ADD THE LEMON AND
KEEP IT IN THE FRIDGE. THE COLDER IT IS THE EASIER IT IS TO DRINK. I ALSO
USE LIMES OR AN ORANGE FOR VARIATION. I DON'T EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING WITH
NUTRA SWEET OR SPLENDA OR SWEET N LOW, SO I HAVE TO FIND THINGS THAT ARE
NATURAL WITHOUT SUGAR. GOOD LUCK. CATHY

Tanya,
All your ideas are good. I LOVE water with lemon and splenda in it. I use
to do the Fruit 20 thing but it was to expensive plus it has an acid byte
to it that I found uncomfortable. I use to drink alot of Snapple Diet Peach
Tea but they've changed their formula. Now there is hardly any peach taste
to it. I'm not going to pay a fortune for tea. (I don't like tea anyway)
But I usually make the lemon water one glass at a time. You can mix up a
big batch and put it in the frige. BUT whatever you do, DON'T put in lemon
rinds to float for flavor! In about a day your water will get a bitter
taste, and more and more bitter with time. Yeak. Water with lemon seems
very healthy to me. Tastes great too. What more could we ask for. ;)

Hey Tanya =)
I've always drunk water with lime in it--I like the taste a lot. Sometimes
I put lime in very warm/hot water so it's like a tea. I don't drink my tea
sweetened usually, so I'm fine with the taste as it is. Do what ya gotta
do!
