Question:
Will a full liquid diet at 1yr post op rejump-start my weight loss?
I had a VBG 5/02, and successfully lost 100+ lbs. Unfortunately I recently started slacking in my exercise and protein. I want to know if doing a full liquid diet for 1 week will jump start my wieght loss. I know I need to start my supplements again, but I want to add something else also. Please help. I think I've gained at least 15 lbs. — Keisha G. (posted on November 5, 2003)

When I have gotten off track I go back to all protein shakes and cottage
cheese for a minimum of three days. I lose a couple of pounds quickly and
am not hungry and I get away from carbs completely other than what is in
those two food items. For me the first day is tough but by day 2 or 3 I
feel so much better and completey detoxed. It works for me. Oh yeah and a
ton of fluids!

I'm a big believer in exercise, so I wonder, if you go on an all-liquid
diet, will you be too weak to exercise? I imagine you'd probably drop
weight on nothing but liquids for a week, but if the "jump-start"
is followed by a "jump-stop," and even worse, a regain as you
resume eating, it may not be worth it. On the other hand, going back to
basics for a few days might help get you detoxed, as the previous poster
said. Just my thoughts. :-)

Wouldn't it be easier just to get back to exercising? A full liquid diet a
year and a half out seems like starvation to me.
