Question:
Are you keeping your profile updated?
Hi WLS friends! I was looking in the WLS Anniversary section today and decided to check out how the long term post ops were doing. I looked at all the anniversaries of people who were 4, 5, 6 and 7 years post op. There were 10 long term anniversaries today and only 2 of those people had recently updated. I know that new post ops read tons of profiles but there are some of us old timers who read them too. I have my 3 year anniversary in 4 days and I like to look for people who are further out than I am just to reassure myself that people are still maintaining their loss. I guess we never are completely convinced that this will last forever. Anyway, I was just hoping that you long term folks would consider updating your profiles so we'll all know how you're doing. Thanks! — ronascott (posted on October 22, 2003)

AMEN! Rona, I am so in agreement with you. Nothing is more discouraging
than reading a response from a long term post-op and going to their profile
to read up on their journey only to find either no info or info that is
years old. I know it takes time to update the profiles but even once every
few months would help enormously, even if the updates are less than
encouraging. We need to know that too. If the loss is not maintained,
why, what happened. We can all learn from your experiences. Rona, I think
in alot of cases, the further out you get, the less often some visit. I'm
corresponding with a person who just celebrated her 4 year anniversary and
maintaining and she told me she left the boards for a few years so that she
could assume a normal life. She said that being on the boards daily
labeled her as a WLS'er and she wanted to forget she had the surgery for a
while and just live life. Different perspective, but for those who remain
on the boards, please keep contributing as your issues are very important
to us.

AMOS MOD HERE!
While were talking about profiles everyone should
print theres and put it in a safe place after each time they update it.
Just in case a computer glitch somehow deletes the entire thing. This has
occured in the past dont let it happen to you!
you can also go to
your profile click on file save as and it will download a electronic copy
of your profile into your computers hard drive. But do make a hard copy too
just in case.....
