Look for things like cottage cheese, string cheese, thin sliced deli meats
with fat free gravy - the moisture will help things go down, low sugar
yogurt, try adding unflavored Designer Whey protein to soft things and thick
soups to help boost the protein even if you aren't able to eat much. If
you cannot get enough protein ask if you can use protein drinks, not my
favorite but can be a help through a rough time. Do the best you can at
this point. It will improve.

While I certainly advocate getting as much protein as humanly possible,
it's really hard to do in the first 3 or 4 months for many people. I ate a
lot of canned corned beef (you can get low-sodium versions if you have
trouble with sodium) steamed with shredded cabbage (chew WELL); tuna mixed
with light mayo on saltines (I did light mayo then not because I think fats
were bad for me, but because fat made me dump the first 6 months);
Franco-American Spaghetti chopped up with a fork and knife (at some nearly
every day because it sat well); string cheese was and still is a daily
staple in my life because you can chew it to death without it going sour in
your mouth and has a good ratio of protein; beef jerky; light yogurts; eggs
scrambled with a bit of mustard (did not like this preop but postop eggs
didn't sit well - but with mustard were pretty good); cooked, chopped
chicken marinated in ranch dressing or cooked with some celery and carrot
and seasonings or cut up in a salad, etc. Things I did not tolerate well
the first 6 months were eggs cooked any way (except scrambled with
mustard), pasta other than the franco-american stuff, fish (other than
tuna), chicken other than the way I listed above, hot dogs and lunchmeat -
including the wafer meats. They gagged me, cottage cheese and most
cheeses. Hope this helps!

I would never have made it without eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, refried
beans, and protein drinks. I went through a fortune trying to find ones
that I liked. Now I really love the Labrada shakes, they are not thick and
taste really good. You can buy samples of them and big containers on many
websites. I have used a few of them but have had the best luck with
wlssupplies.com. Good Luck
