I would take some Vitamin C tablets, Lot's of OJ and I know this sounds
weird, but Jalapenos! Jalapenos have more vitamin c than oj. just a
thought. Hope this helps.

Whatever you do, don't do garlic. Altho it is a good home rememdy, it also
can thin your blood. Do not use any aspirin products either with surgery
so close. Warm/hot fluids, vitamins, REST, ... hope you are better
quickly.

Zinc! They make lozengers and pills. They are a huge boost to your immune
system. My surgeon had me take zinc supplements while I was an early
post-op to help with the hair loss. While it did nothing for my hair...I
didn't as much as sneeze once while taking them.

Just as an aside, I think the stress and excitement of having the surgery
makes us susceptible to a bug. I had a cold going in, not too bad, just some head
drainage and no chest congestion and I used Zicam I think it's called. It's
zinc swabs you rub just inside your nose. It worked like a charm. The day
after my surgery i woke up feeling awesome. Good luck!

I am not a health fanatic nor a natural food/herb person but I have found
that ECHINACEA works. Its an herb that boosts the immune system that you
take in capsule form. It is found in the vitamin aisle of most super
markets. Dosage is different depending on the brand.
I usually start taking it as soon as I feel the "tickle" that
(for me)is the precurser of a cold.
If I do, then I don't get sick. Period. If I ignore the "tickle"
and allow it to become a cold before
I begin taking echinacea, it takes about 2-3 days of taking echinacea for
the cold to be COMPLETELY gone. It
is truly amazing!!
Be warned that you may have to take 4-6 capsules a day - just read the
label.
Hope you are well soon!!! ...and God's blessing on a successful surgery,
recovery and weigh loss. ~~Hugs~~

I had surgery on 1/7 and at Christmas time EVERYONE in my family was sick
with colds. Not just a small cold but the go to bed and don't get up
for 3 days cold. I started to feel
congested and sniffly and panicked. I used Zicam (zinc nasal spray), Zinc
lozenges, Vitamin C (a ton of it about 3000 mg a day--I got the chewables
and just kept popping them) and Echinecea. The sniffles went away. It
works. I hated the way everything tasted after a while because of all the
zinc and vit c but I never got sick and had my surgery.
