Question:
I am having trouble with spicy foods. I am a little over 2 months post-op and was
wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if you were ever able to tolerate spicy foods(Taco Bell, BBQ chicken,etc.). — Lisa S. (posted on June 17, 2003)

Hi Scott,
I am almost almost 4 mos. post op and I also have trouble with spicy foods.
I used to like things quite spicy. My husband loves Mexican food, so
sometimes we go to a favorite spot. I order a beef tostada, and I skip the
sauce since it burns my innards! I can eat half of the tostada. Good luck
on your journey!

I have been fine until recently (about 10 months post-op) when I had some
red hot sauce at a local fish taco joint. I was doubled over for hours, was
really freaked out about it...as it turns out, I called my doctor and he
told me to take Pepcid A/C and sure enough, the hurting stopped. He said
that I may have a minute ulcer or my stomach is sensitive to the spices.
You can try chewing up a Pepcid before you eat spicy stuff and see if that
helps. It seemed to do the trick. I carry the packets in my purse just in
case now.
