Question:
I am 8 months out, down 111 pounds, and I am very tired.
I never used to be tired and nap, but now find myself taking up to 3 hour naps a day. Is this common and how do I get my energy level back up? — Christi S. (posted on June 4, 2003)

First - Congrats! It would seem like it would be time to have labs done if
you haven't. I also know about that time, I had to up my protein - started
doing 20gm whey protein supps 4x/day. Still do 3 or 4 now. Good luck-

Have your lab tests done and ask your doc to check your B1 (thiamine)level.
Mine was low, and I'm now on supplements and doing better. They don't
normally check B1...you have to ask for it. Hugs, Joy

A B-12 deficiency, or an iron deficieny, are also possible culprits. Like
the other posters said, get your labs checked to find clues. :-)

This isn't normal. Sounds like some level is out of wack. Maybe iron or
B12. What's your vitamin regimine? How did your 6 month labs look?

Christi, I agree with the previous posts about the iron and B12. Bet one or
both are low. Believe it or not but another thing that will give you more
energy is more exersize. The harder I work out the more I want to and the
better I sleep at night, that cuts down on the need to nap so much. But
the reason I am adding my post is to ask you to please update your profile.
We all like to check out the others profile and are disappointed when they
aren't up to date.

Definitely agree with the others to get your labs checked. If the labs
come out OK, are you drinking enough? Dehydration or not drinking enough
water will make you tired. Are you exercising-believe it or not, it does
give you more energy, and are you eating several mini meals of mostly
protein? Your body needs fuel and it gets it from food and mostly from
protein, so constantly fueling it every few hours keeps the energy level
up. Good luck.

LABS, iron, B12, 8 glasses of water per day, 60-80 grams of protein per
day, exercise

Was hoping to find the magical answer here. I am having the same problems.
My labs are great, most numbers stayed the same or went up since surgery.
I drink 64-100 oz of water everyday, 60 grams protein in shakes plus
whatever I eat. I don't go to Curves as often as I used to, but have been
very active. Calories are between 1000-1250 a day and I am still so tired.
I do have alot of stress in my life now, so that may just be it for me, but
I was hoping to see the magic number. I could go to bed at 7:00 and wake
up at 6:30 am and still be tired. Well, here's hoping we can figure it
out, I keep thinking that my body is just adjusting to figure out what
happened (I've lost 130 lbs. in 9 months) I am also on a platue right now,
(which is good, because I think I am going to try and stop losing) and the
body acts different during that time. My tiredness started around 7 months
and still has not let up.
