Question:
Has anyone that chose an Out of Network Surgeon been able to BCBS to Pay 100%?
I have decided to go with a physician in Georgia and will have to pay $3700 out of pocket. — S R C. (posted on May 13, 2003)

I have no experience with BCBS but as with all insurers I am aware of, when
you go out of network you will get stuck paying whatever is above
reasonable and customary (and often 20% of the R&C as well).

Hi! I chose an out-of-network surgeon, and BCBS of Georgia, Federal-PPO
Standard Option paid ALL of my hospital bill except the $300~~YEEEESSSS!! I
was totally shocked! Listen up, this gets BETTER...Just as I had planned on
going to get a second full-time job to pay for the surgeon(s), I got the
bill from my surgeon's office and it was just $1,509!!! Some may think,
"just" $1,509??? Yes, just $1,509. When I called to verify at
Emory Dunwoody Medical Center if there was an error in billing, I was told,
"no, all you owe us is $300". Mercy me~~'talking about somebody
praising God!!! For me, all I had to do was have faith and trust in God. I
had a minor complication to my esophagus, but it's all healed. Maybe that
had something to do with it...I don't know. I invite you to read my
profile. Okay, so much for the rambling. Feel free to email me for
additional information if you'd like. I'm a happy camper;o) Best wishes on
your journey! LAP RNY 9/3/02 265/160/115-126 Hadiyah McCutcheon,

SR Brooks,
I wish they had an In-Net-Work doctor that did the surgery, When I had it I
shelled out a little over $4,000.00 it took me almost 5 months to save for
it, but oh it's so much worth it, do it over again in a heart beat.
