Question:
Celexa???
I am taking 40 mg of Celexa to take the edge off my type A personality. Do I have to have the dosage adjusted or what? Take it in liquid form? Nobody seems to know. Thanks and best regards, — Louise C. (posted on May 3, 2003)

Louise, I take 60mg of Celexa and have for about 2 years. I am almost 13
weeks PO and the only day I missed my medicine was the day of surgery. The
few days I was in the hospital they crushed it but once I went home I could
take it orally. The pills are so small that they were never a problem to
swallow. I take 1-1/2 40mg pills. I am now able to take that and a pill
that is 50% bigger plus 2 calcium pills all at once and have been able to
do this since about 4 weeks. Prior to that I would take the calcium with a
separate drink of water but usually right after the other meds.
<p>For me the dosage that I am on had nothing to do with my weight as
it did not drastically go up in that 2 years period. Maybe 30-40 lbs.
Only time will tell if my dosage needs reducing but so far this dosage is
still good for me. I've been seeing my psychiatrist monthly since surgery
so that we can keep on top of any issues that might arise. I do not think
Celexa come in liquid but you should have no problems with taking the
pills. Your esophogus (sp?) stays the same size and the pouch can
certainly handle a few tiny pills. Good Luck! Chris

Call the pharmacy and ask if they can get the celexia in liquid form.
That's what I did with my prozac, then I called my dr and asked them to
call it in for me. I felt the liquid may be easier to absorb and if there
is one thing I want to absorb all of, it's my prozac...and everyone else
around me probably wants me to absorb it too...lol...

Louise - Celexa doesn't come in liquid form, but I'm seven weeks post-op
and have been taking my celexa orally since I returned home from the
hospital. I don't crush them and I do just fine. Best of luck. Robin

Celexa DOES come in a liquid. I know because I tried gagging it down early
post-op. No go for me! I just waited til I could swallow that little pill,
with a spoonfull of yogurt. I am happy to report that I've been able to go
off all meds, only on vitamins/minerals at this point. But if I find I need
it again, Celexa is the best I've had with the least side effects. Walking
has become my anti-depressant! But I know it doesn't always work for
everyone. Good Luck to you - Anna
