Question:
I'm 8 days postop and woke up suddenly this morning with this feeling of my breath
escaping. I don't know how else to explain it but it was a weird feeling. So I went to sit in my recliner and it was doing it while I was sitting in the chair also. Then I remembered that I experienced it in the hospital at least once cause it woke me up. The only way I can explain it is it's like I can feel the breath escaping almost like when you put a pin hole in something? I hope this makes sense to someone out there that could answer this for me. Breathing good any other time, still using spirmeter on and off, walking, etc. Thank you. — cat F. (posted on April 30, 2003)

Were you tested for sleep apnea?

you want to see your physician and have them listen to your lungs. Check
your temp...do you have a fever?? Some times post operatively, fluid can
build up in your lungs causing what I *think* you are describing. This
fluid can cause pneumonia, keep using your spirometer- that will help.
