Question:
What kinds of yogurts are people eating?
I don't like plain yogurt and was hoping to get ideas from here. I can't find any yogurt without fructose in it. — Mary R. (posted on April 22, 2003)

Hi- You want the yogurt WITH fructose in it, not the ones with sucrose.
Dannon Fit'n Creamy is made with fructose and aspartame (Nutrasweet) and
it's delicious. Fructose is the same sugar in fruits, and for most people
with WLS, a little is OK. Sucrose is table sugar-- you'll want to avoid
that like the plague. If I misinterpreted your question, I'm sorry.

Mary,
I love yogurt but find that I have to be oh so careful with the sugar dip
or should I say vomit stick, anything over 13-14 grams just brings on the
worse. I went every where and found a great kind, they come in the regular
containers as well as the lunch size container, they're called Light n Fit,
yogurt I'm not sure who makes them I think Dannon, they come in a purple
(lilac) container, I'm able to hold these down, they're low in fat and also
low in calorie so that a bonus.
I've tried all the other brand even tried the light store brands and no
way! Even though the sugar was low for some reason I could feel that vomit
meter go off...
I try to avoid that as much as possible.
Best of luck

Hi, I eat Dannon Light & Fit, and also Yoplait fat free. I just make
sure that the sugers are 15 grams or less. So far no problems with them.
I am 3 1/2 weeks out.

Blue Bunny Lite 85...yum, yum, yum. Made with Splenda. I even used the
Vanilla Creme flavor last night to make myself a really scrumptious
"shake" with No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast. 1
vanilla NSA CIB, 1/2 cup milk, 1 container vanilla creme yogurt and 1 cup
frozen strawberries. Blend all together and Oh My God! I eat yogurt daily,
either alone or with something. Usually I will add 1/4 cup of Grape Nuts to
give me some crunch and some added fiber. I like the traditional fruity
flavors, not a fan of the funky ones like coconut creme pie. If you go to
www.bluebunny.com and give them feedback on their yogurt or their NSA ice
cream (available in reduced fat or fat free), they will send you fabulous
coupons in the mail! - Anna LAP RNY 7/3/02 -123lbs.

strawberry one is just like having Strawberry Shortcake! I couldn't make it
without my daily yogurt!! Good luck!!

I haven't found Blue Bunny in my area, but I eat both Dannon Light N Fit
and Yoplait light. They have fructose because there is fruit in them. I
think the Yoplait flavors are better, not that Yoplait has better flavors,
but that the Yoplait Lemon is much more lemony than the Dannon and so on.
It's a matter of personal preference, though. I eat a small container
every day, spread out throughout the day. Early post op, I could not
swallow pills with water, but could get them down with yogurt. I'd take a
spoonful, hold it in my mouth and then pop the pill in. Then I'd swallow
them together. I don't need to do that any more, but I still do it anyway
just because I like it.

I have never liked yogurt so I knew that it would have to be really good
for me to eat it. I LOVE Breyers fat free key lime pie. I know it has a lot
of carbs, but in the beginning stages when I could not eat anything, it was
a lifesaver. It definitely did not slow own my weight loss. If you are
further out and need something low in carbs, don't get the fat free kinds.
Fat will not hurt your weight loss and when they are fat free, they tend to
have more carbs which you need to steer clear of when possible....Good
luck!.....Karen (lap rny-09/20/02- down 127 pounds!)
