Question:
How soon after WLS did your labs reflect you needed B12 if your
surgeon is like mine and doesn't start you on B12 until you need to? I have had wonderful energy this past 5 months post-op, but the last 10 days I am beginning to feel a bit drained. I'm thinking maybe it's B12 time. I keep up well w/ my other vitamins. Any input? Is it too soon for B12 level to be off? My next visit is in a month. Thanks. — Wannabe A. (posted on April 18, 2003)

jen my wife isv a hard head and for unknown reasons refused to take hrerb B
12 pill. I dont understand this its small and inoffensive. It showed up
almost immediately in her blood work. Why not call you doc and have the
labs done a bit early? When you say you keep up with your other vitamins
are you not taking your B 12? If not why not?

B12's fast. Days. You know, I took nothing for 6 yrs, and watched my own
levels for the last 4 of those years. Then I watched as we figured out the
frequency I would need. Amazing how they went up & down while we were
getting it right. I caught my levels before they went down into the hole.
The hole being about 200-220. I started screaming at 330. It's a CHEAP
test, so there should not be a problem getting a quickie B12 run to see
where you are

Oh, and Bob, I won't take B12 orally, either. I dont like lozenges or
chewables (never liked hard candy, either). If I can't just throw it in my
pill pack, I know I cannot be faithful. Shots I can do. Odd, yes?
