Question:
Started at 305 and 5'5"- Need Input from Others on Getting to Goal
Hi, I am at that stage where I am happy to be where I am, but, sometimes doubt I will ever make goal. I am 32, had an Open RNY on 8-15-02, am 5'5 and was 305 day of surgery. I am currently 204 and down 101lbs. I exercise 3-4 times a week and sometimes 5-6. I eat everyhting and have had no complications or any foods I cannot eat. Lately, I am eating more and never feel full and am hungry alot. I eat about 1000-1200 calories a day. No shakes, 120g+ of protein. Can I hear form people who had similiar stats to me and have reached goal? My goal is 150. (Here is my weight loss per month : 1st Month -34.00 lbs, 2nd Month -10.50 lbs, 3rd Month -15.50 lbs, 4th Month -11.00 lbs, 5th Month -13.00 lbs, 6th Month -10.50 lbs, 7th Month - 5.00 lbs) HELP? — heathercross (posted on March 25, 2003)

Hi!
I had surgery with Dr. Leitman on 1/10/02. We started at just about the
same weight and height. I am also eating more and I almost never feel
full. I haven't any weight since December. In fact I gained about 10lbs. I
am really getting scared. When I see Dr. Leitman in May I am going to ask
him about checking to see if I have a staple line disruption. I have about
40lbs to get to Dr. Leitman's goal of 170. I have 60lbs to get to my
personal goal of 150. I hope that I get there. Good Luck. Tracy

Heather,
You have to remember that ifyou are exercising 5-6 times a week, you are
naturally going to be more hungry. As long as you eat the right kinds of
foods, you will be fine. I think you should talk to a nutritionist on
this. Your weight loss sounds good. If you exercise, you gain muscle.
Muscle is denser than fat, but it allows you to burn more fat quicker. If
you keep up what you're doing now, you'll see the results soon. Don't let
one month fool you. Happy losing!

Hi Heather, I really dont have an answer for you but I wanted to let you
know that your doing great compared to myself! Your four months after my
surgery (4-16-02)and I have only lost 8 more pounds than you. We started at
the same weight, Im 5'2 and my goal is also 150#s. Just when I think Im
not going to lose anymore weight I drop a couple of pounds Its verrrry slow
loss since six months out. It will be nice to follow each others progress
to see if we make it to goal :)

Heather, I'm not at goal yet but our stats are pretty close. I started at
307 pounds, at 5'4-1/2". At 7 months post-op, I had lost 106 pounds.
Currently, at 10.5 months post-op, I have lost 117 pounds. The weight loss
seems to have slowed a bit, but I am still losing. My hunger varies
depending on what time of the month it is (dang period!). My goal weight
is also 150 pounds. I still have another 39 pounds to go. Just keep up
with the working out, eating right and hopefully you will get to where you
want to be. We all have to be patient. Good luck to you.
