A a seminar that I attended with my doctor he said the Mamsi was one of two
insurances that would not even consider covering this surgery. I hate to
be bearer of bad news, but I have a friend who had to switch insurance.

Hello, I used to have MAMSI. I had to switch insurances last year. I live
in Maryland where by law they have to cover the surgery. They wanted me to
be on a strict diet for 6 or a year, I can't remember which. After I
completed that I was told that they would only cover the surgery and
nothing else. They would not cover anesthesia, pre-op or post-op tests and
appointments. They would only cover the surgery itself. So, the short
story is that they don't cover much. If I had fought them I probaly
could've gotten more but I decided to switch. I hope this helps. Good
Luck.

I was approved by MAMSI in October of 2002. It was a struggle. They do
ask for 6 mths of supervised diet history. Just have all your duck in
orders and call the customer service line often. Let them know you are
serious. They paid for my pre-op testing, surgery and the 80% of the
anasteia (sp wrong). Good luck
