Question:
Are there any post ops working as a liason between doctor's and patients?
I would like information from anyone working as a WLS liason between patients and doctor's, either working for a specific doctor's office or working for a hospital that does WLS. What exactly do you do for the doctor or hospital? — Laura M. (posted on February 25, 2003)

Laura, I don't specifically work as a liason for the doctor/patients, but I
do speak at a lot of the seminars for the WISH Center in IL. I find a lot
of patients wanting answers to questions that the doctors can't answer
because they haven't gone through the surgery themselves. Some of the
patients will take me aside after the seminars and ask me questions and I
will in turn go to the doctor or WISH Center staff and get the answers if I
don't have them or if I didn't experience the question at hand in my
journey myself. I do this mostly on a voluntary basis. I feel that I get
more out of it that way then to have some people not feeling comfortable
that I am "employeed" with this center so they would think I
would say something the center wanted me to say just to make them look
good.
