I have had solids (either pureed w/ lots of broth) of chewed very well and
I'm 2 weeks post-op. No ill effects and am injesting 50-60 grams protein
per day and 64 oz water. Hope this helps.

My physician started me on solid food after 8 days after my surgery. I
didn't feel like I could handle real food so I pureed food. I'm now eating
fish and chicken and cheese. I was 3 weeks last Thursday. I use Propel
for my water since it has vitamins and tastes good. I can't seem to handle
regular water now. I bought a "Sante Fe Quesadilla maker" and it
helps me to make some fast things to eat since it takes 3 minutes to cook.
I don't eat the tortila. I put cheese, refriend beans and chicken or
cheese and shrimp. The only problem I've had with eating solid food is
remembering to chew, chew and chew until mushy before I swallow and how
much to eat.

I was 3 1/2 weeks out before I started solids but you really should do what
your Dr. tells you. Everyone is different. I do know when you start do
very small portions and chew really really well. Good Luck and keep losing.

Right after my 1 week check-up. It was so nice as I didn't care if I saw
broth again. You need to follow your surgeon's program though. They do
vary a lot.

Your doc will have their own idea's about when to start solids. My doc had
us on puree's for 3 months after a 10 day stint on clear liquids. It's
really up to your doc.

hi there :) i was on clear liquids in the hospital and at home for the
first week, i then went to puried soups and sf jello and was on that for up
to 5 weeks, when i seen the surgeon, he okd me for soft foods at 6 weeks
out, everything will be trial and error for you at first, just take it slow
when trying anything new and as the others have said, every surgeon has
their own plan so its best to go with what he or she says, best of luck to
you :)

48 hrs. post-op doctor had us eat minced turkey, mashed potatoes, and
jello-spoonful of each. From there on out it was trial and error. Listen
to your doctor though--it's the program you signed on for....Good Luck

My doctor allowed solid foods about two weeks after surgery, but I couldn't
handle hardly any solid foods for well over three months. Follow your
doctor's regimen if you can.

As you have seen here, every doctor has his own timeline on when to start
what. Find out what your surgeon suggests. My doc's program states
Liquids up to 2 weeks, then Pureed foods until 8 weeks out, then regular
foods.
