Question:
Anyone had tenderness where the gallbladder was, long after (years) it was removed?

O.k., let's see if I can describe this right. This is a question similar to someone's today (1/31). I had my gallbladder removed about 5 years ago. Off and on, but a lot more in the last 2 weeks, I have been having tenderness/slight pain when I touch the area where the gallbladder was. Or at least I think that's where it was. It's on the right side kind of where the last rib is. It's not a radiating type of pain. It's when I put pressure on the area, or if I kind of twist a certain way and my fat moves around on that area. It seems to me like maybe something going on with scar tissue?? Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this. I am scheduled for surgery on Feb. 21st, open RNY, with the incision going diagonal below the left ribcage (opposite side of weird pain). Any thoughts as to if this could affect the surgery? Thanks!    — Samantha B. (posted on January 31, 2003)

I'd call my Doctor if I were you. After 5 years, it's not post-op stuff anymore (unless he left a clamp in there!) You could have pancreatitis or hepatitis or something... pancreatitis is really common in the obese... I had it. Good luck! Nancy
