I haven't gone to Weight Watchers, but I have seen quite a few posts from
people who have. I think, for many, it's the group support they're looking
for at WW, not so much the weight loss plan they offer. I have also seen
one or two posts from people who went to WW and were discouraged from
joining because they had had the surgery. I don't know if that's WW policy
or just an individual leader's bias. I think any kind of support that
works for you is a good thing, be it WW, OA, or a group specifically for
people who have had WLS.

Hi Stacey:
I think joining WW for the group support dynamic would be wonderful, if you
feel this would help you stay on track with your weight loss. My own
opinion, for what it is worth, is that I would not really mention that I
had WLS to anyone in the WW group. There may be some prejudice against WLS
at WW that you should not have to deal with as a paying customer. Whatever
you decide, I admire your resolve to keep up the weight loss battle. It is
always best to have support systems in place. Hope this helps.

WW never helped me (pre op) as they are WAY TO HIGH CARBS. The carbs sent
me on eating binges. Plus they are way to expensive! Geese they were $5 a
week when I went back in the mid to late 80's. The last I knew they were $8
or more a week. I can't afford that. Plus, I would definately tell them
I've had WLS as it would'nt be fair to the others when we would lose weight
(as a new post op) much faster. Also, we would need a higher protein and
lower carb diet... so all in all I don't see WW as being a good diet
"post op". But that is my opinion be it right or wrong I don't
know. An opinion is an opinion. ;)

WW didn't work preop, I personally wouldn't waste my money post op. There
is also TREMENDOUS disapproval from WW against WLS. I would rather stick
with my surgery support group for the support system. They know where I am
coming from aand where I am going and they are right next to me in my
journey.
