Question:
i am 10 months out and thinking about starting a family
and have lost 120 pounds..i have never really had menstruals every month because of my weight(im assuming) now since my surgery 4/2000 i lost 120 pounds and have been having my menstrual every month...do you think i can now start planning a baby..does this mean i am fertile enough to conceive..i do have one 10 yr son and have been trying the past 5yrs but no luck...please give me some feedback...thanks — stacey T. I think you probably are fertile again, but since I am not a doctor, you
can take that with a big grain of salt. However, there is a Yahoo group
devoted to post-WLS pregnancy. Go to www.yahoo.com, choose groups and then
do a search for OSSG pregnancy. You will probably get good information
there, although you should talk to your OB/GYN also.

Well, my dr says we have to wait at least 18 months to get pregnant....I am
like you, I never had regular periods due to my weight pre-op. Well, 5
months post-op I found out I was pregnant. My surgeon was actually P-O'D!!!
Well, I ended up having a miscarriage less than a week later. I would
suggest you talk to your dr before starting to plan a family. I know how
anxious you are, I am too. I don't want to wait for ever to have my
babies!! 30 is creeping up on me!! My mom had all of us way before her
30's!! Good Luck!!
