Question:
I am 9 months out and have lost too much weight and it is not slowing down.
Anyone else having this problem? I have been eating carbs and more frequently but it is not helping, I am scared I am going to die from this.Is there anyway to fix this? — Donna R. (posted on January 18, 2003)

Talk to your doctor.

Are you getting in enough protein? 8 cups of water? Exercise? Vitamins? How
many calories are you eating? I bottomed at a 25 BMI and worried a bit. Now
I gained weight:) You realize that some normal folks are THIN? Perhaps you
were meant to be that way? Do see youre surgeon and nutronist but dont
worry if you look in the memorial page I dont believe ANYONE has died from
getting too thin. Our bodies know when to quit loosing. Mine lost and then
trhru on the brakes, Like I said see your docs but dont stress over it. You
can always graze to slow the loss or gain weight if you really needed to.

In addition to adding carbs, you could also try drinking with your meals.
Basically, to stop losing weight, you have to go against the pouch rules -
step up carbs, and start drinking with your meals.

Donna, At appx 9 mos out I too had lost too much weight. I quit drinking
my protien and I know that was one of the things that helped to stabalize.
Other than that I continued to eat normal meals.

Hi Donna:
You don't say what you weighed before or what you weight now. Perhaps you
are not really underweight, but have never seen yourself at such a low
weight, and feel too thin. Have others been telling you that your weight
is too low? Sometimes that influences us. I know my mother always thought
I was too thin when I was 20 pounds over what the height and weight charts
said I should weigh. Also, when you start at 230 pounds as I did, you do
indeed look thin at 160 pounds to those who have known you at 230. I would
check my BMI if I were you. If it is in the low range, then try to do the
reverse pouch rules. If you are between 18-25 BMI, of course you are very
thin, but maybe your body is meant to be that way. I am not as far out as
you, but I can see where you would begin to panic if you do not even
recognize yourself at your current weigh. However, I have also heard many
times that as your weight stabilizes, even if you have gone too low, you
can put on anywhere from 10-15 pounds. Hope this helps. Good luck to
you.
Love Grace
