how long does it usually take to hear back from medicaid whether you're approved ?

a friend of mine is patiently waiting for an answer from ohio medicaid to see whether they'll approve her procedure. is there a number she can call to check the status on her claim?    — verna S. (posted on January 14, 2003)

Hi there, Verna! Although I live in WI, I found out in one day, well I got my verbal approval by phone. Then a couple of days later they faxed my surgeon the actual paperwork giving the written approval. On the back of your friends medical card there should be a telephone number she can call and find out. I kept bugging the medical director's office, if she gets too impatient, she can bug them till she gets a response. Vi open RNY 9/23/02 down 87 lbs.
