Question:
Hi. I am 9 months post op and down 70lbs. I have a question about my incision.....

I only just started exercising since my weight lose has slowed down. I walk all the time but, decided to start a low impact aerobic exercise to jump start my weight loss again. The floor exercise that I do along with the aerobics is a workout for your abs. I have been afraid to do any ab workout for fear I might "hurt" something inside below my incision. Really, this is leading up to something. Well, I just wanted to know if anyone had any discomfort after their work out. I have a light burning and pulling sensation around the top of my incision. I have to say that it is all surface not anything I can feel internally. Am I hurting anything?? I had an open rny and I have a keloid, ugly looking, worm-like scar. YUCK!!! I had three c- sections and the scars are soooo much prettier. Anyways, Can anyone give me some insight. Also, Does anyone have a pulling sensation in the same area after eating?? Am I eating too much?? I am at or below 1000 calories a day. Sorry for the long read. God Bless.    — Jennifer F. (posted on January 7, 2003)

My guess is that something in that top area fused to your muscle layer within the incision. Its a common side effect with any surgery. Check with your surgeon to be sure. Im 6 months out - and my scar did the keloid thing too... I think. They tell me at my surgeons office that it will look better once I can get a little sun on it (during the summer).
