Question:
Has anyone else been able to fit into smaller sizes but the skin just won't go?
I'm feeling aggravated with all my skin. I've lost 62lbs at almost 4 months. I can finally get into size 18 jeans except for all my skin just billows over the top and out of the jeans making me look terrible. I know my 22s don't do that, but they are baggy. I want my hips and lower stomach to look slimmer...only getting into the 18s makes my upper stomach look huge because of the overflow. Does the skin get any better? Am I alone? I just feel like I've accomplished so much only to look yucky still. I'm really thinking about an early tummy tuck to get the skin off. Anybody else had one earlier than a year after WLS? — mbradley35 (posted on December 13, 2002)

Wow... we're lost the same lbs, in the same post-op time, and are in the
same size pants! :) Im not having a skin issue yet - just an issue with
losing fat faster in one part than another. The widest part of my butt is
an 18.. but my thighs and stomach are almost 16. Sigh... atleast we're
still losing!!

Oh do I know that feeling...I am 4 months out down 70 pounds. 20's fit
loose, 18's fit, snugly and all the skin comes out the top giving me the
nicest spare tire....LOL. So I know what you're going through. However, I
have not considered TT yet. Just hang (not literally) in there, it has to
get better. LAP RNY 8/8/02 -70 lbs.

Oh YES! Hate this so much. I'm at goal now, with 130 lost, and sitting at
120 now. No matter what size I was as I was losing.. the belly overflowed
the top of the pants. Still does! I fit in size 6's now.. they make me
look so good.. but if I dont suck it in.. eww.. tummy alert! Size 8's
don't do that to me.. but are way too baggy. So much so that they almost
fall off! So what's a girl to do? For me at least, Panniculectomy. At
some point, that I think is my only hope. But then I'm scared.. I fit
perfect in 6's now.. even some 5's.. what on earth size would I be after
surgery??? What weight?? Really don't want to lose anymore. Anyhow.. I'm
not sure if there is anything you can do about that.. if you find a way..
let me know!! :) Congrats to you on your loss and new life! Annie

I was undecided about the tummy tuck issue pre-op. Let me tell you now
dear, I'm going for it! I'm in size 16 elastic waist jeans that sag off my
butt and hips (I'm an apple shape). I could probably wear a size 12 right
now without this sagging belly skin! My dream outfit is a tight pair of
jeans, cute t-shirt (and my new leather coat DH is buying me when I reach
goal!) However, I'm waiting until I'm about 20 pounds from goal before I go
for the tummy tuck consult. I want it to be the most beneficial and for it
to be a one-time deal. Good luck! - Anna LAP RNY 7/3/02 -96lbs.

Melisa - I know where you are! I'm five months post and down 82 pounds.
I'm in a size 18 pants for the most part but did get into a size 16 skirt
this weekend. I have LOTS of "extra". But mine doesn't come out
the top it hangs down. I consulted a plastic surgeon and they said that I
really need to wait three months after I reach goal to do anything! I was
ready to go now! But he has seen a lot of gastric bypass patients and
knows what he's talking about. All I can say is hang in there and keep
moving toward the goal!

I feel your pain. I am in the same boat. I am in size 18's ir 20's. If
they fit in the rear end and thighs they are kind of tight around the waist
and I spill over. Even worse are the low rider jeans. It is disgusting
what hangs over the top of them.

I have the same problem as every other poster to this question. Until I
get to goal, I have been buying maternity pants, they have more give at the
waist, and fit in the butt and leg area. Hope this helps, and happy
holidays to all!

Before I "fixed" it with plastic repairs....I had a huge secret
way to look fairly good....(many peeps didn't notice my repairs cause of my
"secret" underwear)
Ok....get major control pantyhose....maximum support hose and combine with
a long line bra. I got my long line bra at Dillards and wore the stuffings
out of it prior to body lift. Trust me really works....makes you able to
wear clingy clothing without showing skin bulges.

You are absolutely not alone!!I am pretty sure that many of us feel the
same way. After having lost 150 lbs initially, and regaining about 30
pounds, my hanging skin was very irritating when I wanted to look nice when
going out, or if I just wanted to wear a pair of pants. But, the loose skin
would bulge out at the front(even with a girdle on), and billow over the
top of the waist band, no matter what I did. I recently had abdomnioplasty.
For the first time in my life my stomache is flat, and I do mean flat! Once
all of the swelling goes down, I should be able to finally wear a pair of
pants normally. I cannot wait!
