Question:
What was your 1st post-op Holiday Dinner??
thought this might be fun and I am curious. I am only 2 1/2 weeks postop so you all know what mine will consist of. Not much. Thinking ahead wondering what others have. After all there is another holiday coming. — Sharon F. (posted on November 22, 2002)

Surgery july 23rd 2001 the thanksgiving was great. Eating in a nice relaxed
atmosphere I ate a lot, although not like pre op. Now its nearly a year
later and I eat what other THIN people do. I can eat ANYTHING. Dont fret
holidays are about more than food so enjoy the rest of it. Next year thin
and feeling great you will really enjoy the holidays.

Had surgery Sept 14, 2001, then Thanksgiving. I did really well, although
ended up putting too much food on my plate, a tablespoon of this or that
adds up when you have a holiday meal. I still put too much on my plate to
this day, but it's easy to know when to stop with WLS. Good luck to you.

Sharon,
I'm well semi new, I'm 6 months post op so this will be my first holiday
dinner post op. I'm really trying hard last time I ate any turkey it didn't
like me and I wound up throwing it up.... This time I'm going to do very
little of everything. The main thing is moderation, and to take my
time...... I'm actually looking forward to the Holidays. For me even
before surgery I always did better during the winter season then summer...
Go figure you would at least think I would pack on weight during the colder
season, but I am the exact opposit...I think when I was pre- I hid in the
summer and ate myself away, afraid of the hot air in Nevada, and the
dreaded torture of having to think of fitting into a bathing suit. I think
this season, I'll just watch what I eat and make better decisions..
Good luck and God Bless to everyone out there...
Post op 6 months and down 100 pounds !
P.s. This comming up summer I'll be ready !! For that bathing suit..,.. My
camera's broken other wise I'd post a new pic !!

My sx was 10/5, so Thanksgiving was my first. I had teensy bites of
everything (except sugar). Nothing was prepared with milk or sugar. I had
no problem with Tgvg or Xmas. But 4th of July, OMG! I wanted everything
& a LOT of it. Of course, that didn't happen, but the WANT factor was
kicked into full swing by then.

My surgery was October 30, 2001, so my first holiday was Thanksgiving. I
had read all the posts about people who could eat a little bit of normal
food three weeks out, so I put a tiny bit of everything on my plate and sat
down to eat. I had about three bites of food and ending up throwing up. It
wasn't so bad though. I have learned to enjoy the social aspect of the food
holidays. I sit at the table, sip water, chat and eat tiny bits of food
that I know agree with me, like cheese and crackers. I NEVER try new foods,
especially if I am not in my own home. I share in the fun and the clean up
and don't feel as though I miss out at all.

hi there :) my first post op holiday dinner was easter 2002. my surgery was
feb 8 02. i did not eat much at all. and it wasnt as torturous as i thought
it would be. i took tiny bits of this and that , but mostly turkey. i
thought id have a real hard time with all the pies around but didnt. i stil
dont eat sugars and with thanksgiving and christmas just around the corner
and being 9 months out at this point will be a bit harder for me to resist
the punkin pie, but i wont do it. im thinking of maybe trying to make one
using splenda and just try some of the filling and not the crust. thanks
giving is a time of thanks and im thankful that this holiday season i wont
be gaining any weight! happy turkey day eveyone!

I had my first opertation Oct. 29,01 so my first holiday was Thanksgiving
also. My mom made me some soup with turkey in Very small pieces. But no
desserts or anything else. But a friend saved me some turkey breasts and I
got to eat it later when I could handle meats. To all have a happy
holiday.

Well, I had surgery June 12th and my 25th birthday was July 16th. My
family is real big on birthdays so of course there was a "party."
My mom made me cheese ravioli with low-sugar tomato sauce (I ate about 3
raviolis) and I also made a sugar-free/fat-free chocolate pudding pie that
I ate a small piece of while everyone else was having cake. That worked
great for me!

I had my first post-op holiday meal yesterday! My hubby's office had a
pre-thanksgiving dinner (luncheon) with turkey and all the trimmings. I
enjoyed some turkey (and discovered that the dark meat is moister and goes
down easier than the white!), a tablespoonful of dressing with a spot of
butter on it (went down wonderfully - and I worried because of the bread),
1/2 slice of canned, jellied cranberry sauce, 4 black olives, and a heaping
tablespoon of green bean casserole. It was heaven - and I didn't dump
until I snitched one little bite of my husbands peach pie. That was the
topper - UGH! I imagine I'll have about the same (minus the pie) on
thanksgiving.
