Question:
Any

After 8 months on a waiting list, I finally have an appointment with the surgeon for my consultation! I just turned 60 and a little concerned about recouperation at my age. I am very optimistic and I genuinely believe one's attitude is the key to success, but I would like to hear experiences from the older group.    — Jayne F. (posted on November 21, 2002)

My Husband and I had the surgery together, I was 59 and he was 60. We had an extremely easy time of it. You can have a good attitude and still have problems. You can have a pessimistic attitude and do well. There are so many variables to surviving this surgery, you just have to go with the odds. There is a group of over WLS over the age of 50 at a subgroup on Yahoo. Just send an e-mail to [email protected] and she will send you an invitation to join. Also feel free to read my profile.

I was 62 when I had my surgery on 4/15/02. I did have to be on a vent for a couple of days(ex-smoker) but other wise things have gone great. I'm down 105 pounds. Any questions email me at [email protected]
