Unless your husband is a trained nutritionist, tell him to butt out. You
need to follow the recommendations of your doctor. Based on what you have
posted, you are not eating enough protein. Eat more of that first,
carbohydrates secondary. Get an egg or cottage cheese or yogurt in the
morning instead of Rice Crispies which have virtually no nutritional value.
Keep drinking milk if that sits well with you. Skim milk will give you
more protein per serving. Expect a little plateau or two along the way as
your body tries to catch up to a dramatic weight loss. Ninety pounds in 8
months is extraordinary.

Totally agree with the previous poster. Who does your DH think he is, The
FOOD POLICE? Add some more protien. Your doing great in everything else.
Don't let you DH tell you that you are going to fail! That isn't supportive
of you at all!

My answer? Get rid of your husband. You lost 90 pounds in 8 months.
You'll know if you're eating too much. You'll throw-up. Tell your husband
he needs to lay off. You've gone through alot with the surgery, system
changes, mental changes, etc. You need support, not criticism.
Good luck.

You wrote two very important things in your question; I'm down 90 pounds
and I'm so happy. You should also add proud to that list. You sound like
you're comfortable with what you're eating and it's working for you so why
stress out over it. Since you are walking and working out as well you are
probably working off a good deal of those calories. If your blood work is
good and your doctor's happy with your progress I wouldn't change a thing.
Congrats on your weight loss. - Mike

I think your intake sounds fine! You are living on next to nothing! I'd say
if you are still losing weight, you are doing something right! Best of
luck!,

Sounds like you are right on track to me. I had my surgery about 2 weeks
before you and am down 97 lbs. Your meal plans sounds about right, too.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Christine:
First of all, congratulations on losing 90 pounds. Second of all, tell
your husband to buzz off. Even with his comments, you are doing
wonderfully. If anything, you are not eating enough and need to add a
little to your daily diet. Your calorie count sounds awfully low to me.
Be proud of yourself. You are doing fine.

Christine....we are eating about the same, and I've lost 86 lbs. in 6.5
months. I think you're doing great. Hubby needs to put a sock in it.

Hi Christine....My surgery was 3/19/02. I too have lost 90 pounds. I have 1
egg w/cheese for breakfast-3 ounces of tuna for lunch and 3 ounces of
chicken or fish for dinner(well the protein is always first along
w/vegetables if I'm not too full). My water is about 90 oz. per day. My
snacks are fruit, 1 cup of multi grain cereal, or 1 1/2 bagel crisps-trying
to lay off the carbs-my downfall. I think you are doing great. Do not let
anyone discourage you- WE WILL MAKE IT!!!!!

Hi... You are doing great! Tell your husband to spend one week eating what
YOU eat...he'll shut up I suspect. I am 7 months post op and down 91# and
feel super. I eat what you are and at times a little more though I do feel
it if I go over that. Think back though to what you were eating
pre-surgery and still gaining. Be very proud of your success and keep in
mind that sometimes with others and spouses, sabotage girdled in fear can
exist. Fear that they will lose you as you lose this weight, fear that
their dinner partner is changing interests, fear that you will succeed at
something where perhaps they can't even in another area. Do not let anyone
do this to you, hold your head high and be proud (though humble) that
you've been given this gift and used it wisely to preserve your own health.
My best to you.

As another poster mentioned, your protein sounds low. If your only protein
sources are 3 oz of meat and 8 oz of milk you aren't getting in enough
protein on a daily basis. You might try replacing the Rice Krispies with a
protein bar, eggs, or cheese. Otherwise, tell hubby to keep his opinions
to himself!;)
