Question:
How much can I expect to lose in 4-6 weeks after surg. if I am 5'3
and do the best I can and exercise? Just trying to get a rough idea of what to expect when I go back to work. Interested in anyone else of the same size and their experience. — Kathy B. (posted on November 18, 2002)

Well, you'll hear it 100 times, everyone is different. However...I'm 5'4,
started at 259, down 22 pounds 4 weeks out. You probably won't be able to
do much exercise (other than walking) the first four weeks...my doctor has
not cleared me yet for anything other than walking. Good luck.

My surgeon looks for 10-15 pounds lost a month. He says this is the norm.
When I questioned him about someone in out support groups who lost 54
pounds in a month, his reply was "not everyone tells the truth".

A lot of it depends on how much you weight. If you weigh 250, you can
expect to loose less then someone that weighs over 400 pounds. Everyone IS
different. Everyone starts out different. Everyone stays different.

Hi Kathy, I am 5'2" tall, weighed 277 on the day of surgery. In the
first month I lost 25 pounds, but was with others at doctor's office that
had lost more. I am now 10 months post-op and have lost 90 lbs. (on my
scale). I wish you luck!

I'm 5'3" was 245 ish the day of surgery. I think at 4 weeks I had
lost like 25 - 30, I don't remember. But now, at approximately 6 1/2
months post op I have lost 95 lbs and I'm about 25 from goal. Good luck.

I'm 5'2" & started out at 223. At 5-weeks post-op I'd lost 30lbs.

I'm 5'2 and started out at 248 and after 6 weeks I had lost about 40
