I have ordered a few samples from Viatalady, but think I would benefit more from something I can put on my food, in my water or other fluids that is tasteless... any suggestions? Thanks, Sheryl — Sheryl W. (posted on November 11, 2002)

Our nutritionist was telling us about a product called Proteinex - which
was been used in hospitals for years. Two tablespoons of this will give
you 15g of protein. No sugars, fats or carbs. It has an orange taste,
but the people who tasted it at our support group meeting on Saturday said
it went quite well in water. Do a search on Proteinex on your search
engine (or wait for the Proteinex ad to appear in the banner ads here -
they do advertise on this site)...JR

There is also a product called casec that you can order from your local
pharmacy or on cvs.com. You add it to your food and can cook with it, and
it's supposed to be tasteless. I am getting a sample from someone in my
support group but haven't tried it yet.

I bought many samples from vitalady and have yet to find one I can stand.
I ended up buying an unflavored one. Be ware though that the unflavored
actually have a milk kind of taste to them. The vitalady told me to be very
careful aobut adding the protein to foods that were very hot or the protein
will break down. It also will break down if frozen. The unflavored is ok
mixed with lukewarm stuff though. I found that it dows clump and is hard
to get completely disolved even in the blender. Hope you have better luck
finding one that works for you than I have.

ProCel & UpCal D Plus are both ALMOST tasteless. ProCel is protein
ONLY, UpCal D is protein + calcium citrate + D.

hiya. i use Jarrow's Iso Rich Soy Protein Powder which i get online at:
www.vitamintrader.com
in 1 serving (2 tbls) it has: 25g protein, 0 fat, 0 carbs, 0 sugar, 110
calories and is tasteless.
it is made to be cooked with so it doesn't breakdown in heat or cold. yes
it is soy and i understand that whey absorbs better but my protein counts
have been perfect and i've used this since 4 mos. post op.
every morning i make: 12oz coffee, 1/2 scoop EAS Advantage Chocolate whey
protein, 1 tbls Jarrows Iso Rich soy protein, some Vitamite (milk sub) and
heavy whipping cream..get about 30g protein and no you can't taste it. you
do have to stir before drinking because both proteins settle on the
bottom.
i mix the jarrow's in with just about everything...for a BUNCH of recipes
head over to the wls support group website i belong to and there are 4
recipe files, 1 holiday recipe file and 1 file containing a recipe for
peanut butter-chocolate chip cookies using the jarrow's.
http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/Life_Savors/files/
the recipe files are from "katebme2002"
feel free to email me if you have any questions...
good luck! [email protected]

GNC has a brand of unflavored protein mix. It still has a vitaminy kinda
taste and smell but it is good mixed with pudding.
