Cheryl, you haven't failed! You have lost 93 pounds and that is GREAT!!
Maybe it's the change of daylight savings time to regular time and winter
coming on---that usually causes me to start feeling blue too. Try to get
outside when the sun is out, this will help. Hang in there, you've done
wonderful and I'm sure the loss isn't over for you---you're probably just
on one of those dreaded plateaus and it will pass!

Hi Cheryl - I think 93 pounds in 6.5 months is wonderful. Sounds like your
body is needing some time to catch up with all the changes. Just wanted to
say I live near you - in Fortuna, CA - and I was even thinking of using the
same surgeon as you did. Hang in there. You'll start loosing again just
keep the faith!

Cheryl, I think you are doing so awesome, dont give up, i know its
fusterating but your body has to adjust to the new and rapid weight
loss...you could be losing inches right now as well....you will look back 3
months from now and say why did i feel that way hehe cuz you will be soo
much smaller then you are now ... trust me!! keep up the great work girl
and cheer up feel fab for the wonderful job you are doing!!!

My dear you have reached that point that gets most of us around 7 months
out--- the dreaded plateau!! Please don't lose heart. Boy, have I been
there, done that! There are all kinds of things you can try to break it:
Up your protein and water, change your exercise routine a little (carry
weights while you walk for example), up your calories some (you may be in
starvation mode), decrease your simple carbs. Most of all, don't give
up--you WILL start to lose again.

A failure? with a 93 pound weight loss? NOT!!! Take another look in the
mirror and see how great you look!! How wonderful that you are almost at
100 pounds lost..Go back to the basics...tons of water..only
protein..exercise more. Pamper yourself for a day..manicure, pedicure, buy
yourself a new outfit..whatever it takes! Your plateau WILL end and you
WILL start losing again! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

We preach in our support group, take your measurements before you start and
every couple weeks. I found that whenever I stabilized for awhile, after a
couple weeks, my measurements showed I had lost maybe 6 - 10 inches total
throughout my body. I usually got a hint when someone would say, you've
lost more weight, haven't you and sure enough if I took my measurements I
had lost inches. Those inches helped me get through those times.

Hi! I don't have any advice, as I am still pre op. I just wanted to
congratulate you on your wonderful weight loss! My surgery will be 12/9/02
and I only hope that I can do as well as you have done! Hang in there!

I myself feel I am also suffering from depression though mine began before
my recent plateau. For the last month or more I have just been crying. I am
not quite 3 months out and have not lost anything in two weeks. I have
started eating bad carbs because I just kind of gave up trying so hard. I
lost the 65 pounds in the first 2 and a half months. I know what it is like
to feel like a failure.

really down and done alot of crying but i think its the time change and
cold coming. also remembe the holidays are coming and that sometimes is a
downer. as far as your success, you are doing excellent. do you have old
pictures? if so take them out and look at them that ought to make you feel
better. good luck to you.

I also can understand and identify with you because I have been hitting
plateaus since the end of August, 2002. I had surgery 5/1/02 then weighed
343, today I weigh 245. The loss has been plagued by plateaus. I ingest
60 grams of protein and more than 64 oz. water, exercise and eat less than
1000 calories per day. I eat very little carbs, very light fresh fruit,
and small amount of vegetables and no sweets (my weakness).

I would definitely talk to your doctor about depression. I've been treated
for depression off an on for 9 years, since my marriage broke up. I know
that part of my weight gain is due to the meds (I was a "gainer"
not a "loser") but it's my feeling that since you've had the
surgery and know your eating habits by now that shouldn't be an issue. I'm
scheduled for 11/21/02 and I'm hoping once the weight starts to come off,
my depression will improve.
